New Heart Christian Foundation begin in 1987 as a private organization known as New Heart Ministries helping women recently released from prison transition into main stream life with relocation assistance, GED preparation and job finding.

In 1990 in also became a resource for homeless women, unemployed women and women of violence as well as a transitional home for battered women and children.

By 1993 New Heart Christian Ministries had begun counseling, spiritual formation and financial assistance to women in college.

In 2004 mentoring, counseling, financial assistance as well as resource referral services were initiated for teens and unwed mothers.

New Heart Christian Ministries started referrals for housing assistance, transportation, information for health and prevention and job preparation services in 2006.

By early 2009 grief counseling at hospitals and hospice and Alzheimer's and Dementia counseling for families had become part of the services provided.

New Heart Christian Ministries became New Heart Christian Foundation, INC and was incorporated in 2011.

New Heart Christian Foundation received its 501(c) (3) status in early 2013.

 

The Executive Director for New Heart Christian Foundation is Dr. Diane F. Spruill.
Her background includes teaching, counseling, law, business management and ministry. She has worked with the homeless at the Atlanta Union Mission, has been actively involved in prison ministry, has been actively involved with battered women and children, worked with displaced persons and was a chaplain in residence at Southern Regional Medical Center, Emory Health Care. Wesley Woods, A. G. Rhodes and Children's Hospital of Atlanta. She has been the Director of a home for battered and abused women and is also certified in Alzheimer's Dementia.

The foundation is operated by a board of directors with a diversity of backgrounds in occupation, education and professional interest. The foundation was established to enhance the positive quality of individual, family and community life by providing services for battered women and children, information, support and counseling for pregnant teens, health information for prevention and support.
